Vision:
We exist to grow in Christ. We exist to share the good news of Christ with others. We exist to provide a place of refuge for the weary and worn through the drudgeries of life.
About Us:
St. Matthew congregation was organized December 16, 1894. Originally a WELS Lutheran church, members met in various homes and the local school house until the first church building was completed July 1, 1900. In the late summer of 1928 the church was struck by lightning. The resulting fire was catastrophic leaving the church building a total loss however, a few items were rescued from the burning building. The baptismal font, which we proudly use today, was among those items rescued. Not to be deterred the congregation rebuilt and on May 11, 1930 the new 'church on the hill' was dedicated. The congregation was housed in that same church building for the next 79 years, until 2009. Needing more space for it's growing congregation, a new church building was commissioned in January 2007. The present building was dedicated September 20th, 2009.
In 2012 St. Matthew parted ways with the WELS synod and began the search for a synod that more closely aligned with it's beliefs. That happy home was found in February 2013 within the LCMS (Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod).
St. Matthew is a growing church family with 550 members.
Now housed in it's 15,000 sq. ft. building St. Matthew is looking forward to celebrating it's 125th year anniversary in December of 2019.
