Salamonie School was built in 1969 as a 7-9 junior high school. In 1982, the local elementary school in Warren was closed. Those students were brought to Salamonie, and the school was made a K-8 building. The ninth graders from Salamonie were consolidated into Huntington North High School at that time. Salamonie has been a K-8 school until the 2011-2012 school year when it became a K-5 building.
