Mission Statement:

The purpose of the City of San Marcos Community Services Department is to involve people in community activities or events that enrich and focus their lives.

Function:

The Community Services Department has the responsibility of providing recreational and community benefiting programs and support services at city parks and recreational facilities. The recreational facilities include: the Barn; Senior Center; Community Center; Gymnasium; Neighborhood Rec. Centers; Jack’s Pond Nature Center; and the two Aquatic Centers.
Specific elements of the department’s functions are: activities for pre-schoolers, after school and non-school days programming; holiday celebrations and special city events; special interest classes; club programs; senior citizen services; family programs; youth and adult sports; cultural and performing arts; aquatics; liaison work with community groups; trail and nature center activities; and park and trail planning.
