Originally, the club was sponsored by the Amityville Lions Club and celebrated its Charter Night on September 4, 1941. There are no records of any activities in the 1941- 1942 Lion year. it should be noted that the Charter was cancelled on July 31, 1943. For the record, the Seaford Postmaster, Ed McGrath was the President the first year and there is no reference to the Club Officers the second year.
Perseverance and the need for a Lions Club was evidently in the minds of some of the original members because, on January 29, 1952 we see that the Lions Club of Seaford rebounded and was officially chartered that night. No names are indicated as officers for the 1951-1952 Lion Year and my reference starts with 1952-1953 showing the President, Secretary and Treasurer for this year and ensuing years, but for brevity reasons I will only note who was President. The first year was evidently a "formative year" and activities are noted, but in 1952-'53 with Ed McGrath at the helm---Conducted a Sight Seal Drive, Presented flags to the Girl Scout troop, sponsored Little league Team and provided eye examinations and fitted one person with eyeglasses.
