Mission:
ShenArts supports artists through programming, instruction and exhibition and expands arts awareness to the public of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
About Us:
The Shenandoah Arts Council is a nonprofit arts organization, located in Winchester, VA, just eight short blocks SOUTH of the downtown Mall. Our building houses a retail gallery, where visual artist members display their art work for sale, as well as a main gallery where we have rotating exhibitions. Our gallery commission is only 30% – 70% goes back to the artist.
The main gallery also houses our events and activities, such as poetry readings, musical performances, art instruction, figure drawing sessions, meetings, and more. Our second floor is home to three privately rented artist studios. Our facility is also used by area organizations. For instance, the Potters Guild holds their bi-monthly meetings here and there is a weekly Zen mediation group.
The Arts Council holds its own programs and events as well as markets the overall arts community as well. We are a resource to the community for general arts information and we partner with several community organizations on cultural offerings for our region. Some of our community partners include the Discovery Museum, Shenandoah Pottery Guild, The Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, Old Town Winchester, Boys & Girls Club and more.
