The mission of the Church is to Pray, Study, Witness, and Serve each other and the community in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
History
In 1852 history records the existence of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Sparta as a duly organized body. The Michigan Annual Conference at Niles shows a record of the appointment of Rev. J. H. Harder to Sparta. Although it is very likely the church must have been organized shortly before, in the absence of any other date, it would, from a historical viewpoint, seem fitting to use September 15, 1852, as the date the church was organized.
Sparta Township was founded in 1846 and the Sparta Methodist Church was its first organized body of worship. This was nineteen years before Sparta became a Village in 1871.
