Constructed in 1970 and home to both the men's and women's ice hockey teams at Wesleyan, the Spurrier-Snyder Rink, formerly the Wesleyan Arena before a November, 20, 2004 renaming ceremony, recently underwent a major facelift with new dasher boards, a refurbished rear walkway and concession area, and a fresh coat of paint. The 1,500-seat rink also has been used for trade shows, concerts, outside functions and other Wesleyan activities over the years. Middlesex Youth Hockey also has its base of operations out of the Spurrier-Snyder Rink as do the Xavier and Cheshire High School teams and local adult hockey programs.
