Stoney Lonesome Farm

7502 Cerro Gordo Road

Stoney Lonesome is a family owned and operated farm in Gainesville, Va., thirty-five miles west of Washington D.C. Our farm landscape is an ideal setting for diversified food production; our gardens are surrounded by pasture, forest and ponds. We sustain our garden soil through crop rotation, composting, mineral amendments and straw mulch. We do not use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We offer Internships to interested young folks during our April through October growing season.

We provide 22 weekly shares of seasonal produce, from June into October. While the amount of produce will vary through the season, one share should be suitable for two veggie-loving adults, or a few meals for a larger family. For a sample of what you can expect, check out our Newsletters for past seasons. Community participation is an essential aspect of our CSA program. A strong connection between members and the farm provides much needed assistance to the farm at key moments through the season. We've also found that CSA members who contribute to farm projects enjoy an enriched CSA experience. It's fun! We ask, but do not require, that members help us on harvest days twice each season. This help need not be physically demanding as there are many ways to assist: sun or shade.

Mt. Pleasant, Washington DC  (Sun)
This is a Delivery Co-op that picks up from the farm. 7-8 shares are picked up each week to be distributed in a neighborhood in DC by their owners, who take turns picking them up at the farm! We would like to help organize more of these, in other neighborhoods. Description of how this works is on our website, under 'CSA'.
