The mission of Sydnor Jennings Elementary School is to meet the intellectual, social, physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs of our students by providing an environment that fosters learning, respect, self-worth, independence, and interdependence.

About Us:

Sydnor Jennings Elementary is located in a rural setting of northern Halifax County and has a population of approximately 285 students. The school houses students in Prekindergarten through 5th grade. There are a variety of programs and services offered to students throughout the school day to provide enrichment and tutoring opportunities for students. Some of the programs and services include: Schoolwide Title One services, special education services, Accelerated Reader Program, SuccessMaker Program, Gifted and Talented services, part-time nursing care, and a full time guidance counselor.

The instructional program at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School is designed to help each student achieve success. Our curriculum is based on the Virginia Standards of Learning set by Halifax County Public Schools. The staff prides itself on team work and providing consistent communication between home and school.
