About Us

Tablerock Festival of Salado, a nonprofit organization committed to providing arts and learning tools to the community and beyond, is named for a large limestone monolith in Salado Creek.

Tablerock, once level, was first a meeting place for Native Americans.

In the 1800s, it attracted young Salado College students. A flood in 1921 undermined the college students' trysting spot, causing it to tilt.

Today, Tablerock and its Goodnight Amphitheater serve as a vibrant theatrical venue, currently producing its 27th season.

Tablerock Festival of Salado began in 1979 by a handful of public-spirited people from Salado, Belton, Temple, and vicinity. Their aim was to promote the arts in Central Texas. But more than that was the desire to recognize and give exposure to the many talented professional and semiprofessional artists, actors, and musicians who live and work here. It is with this goal in mind that Tablerock Festival of Salado designs its seasonal programs. Today, Tablerock Amphitheater continues to serve as a Salado meeting place.
