What We Believe What a person believes is critical. We believe there are certain essentials that the Bible teaches. Listed below are a few of our beliefs on some of the essentials.
The Bible
The Bible is the inspired word of God. The 66 books which comprise the Bible are completely reliable and truthful. The Bible gives us direction in living our faith and should be studied and read regularly. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died for the sins of mankind, was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is coming again to claim His people and to judge the world. Jesus Christ, is the only provision God has given for people to be made right with God. Jesus' life serves as the greatest model for Christians to live by. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He indwells each believer from the moment of conversion. He empowers us to live the Christian life by affirming our salvation, strengthening our spirit, guiding us to the truth, and endowing us with spiritual gifts to serve the church and the world. (John 14:16; Ephesians 1:19-20; 1 Corinthians 1)
The Trinity
The Trinity is three persons that eternally share the nature of God. The Bible refers to these persons as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are not three separate gods, but one God revealed in three ways so we can better understand his glorious nature. (John 14:10, 26; 15:26)
Salvation
Salvation is reconciliation with God through the atoning work of Jesus Christ that He completed on the cross. God offers salvation by grace alone and we receive salvation as a gift through personal faith in Jesus Christ. This right standing before God cannot be earned through good works. Once salvation is received, it is eternally secure. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 1:13; 2:4-5)
Mankind
Human beings are created by God in His image. As such, we are a unique creation. Our unique standing, however, does not mean we are perfect. In fact, man is a fallen being who has turned against God and this has resulted in spiritual death for all humanity. Mankind is in desparate need of reconciliation with God and without such reconciliation man stands under God's righteous judgement. Though fallen, God loves man, and desires each one to come to repentance and faith in Jesus. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:7)
The Church
The Church is composed of all those who have genuinely placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The church is not an institution but a people. God desires each believer to live their lives actively involved within the church. The church is God's chosen instrument to carry the gospel to the whole world through the preaching of Jesus Christ and performing acts of ministry in His name. (John 13:34-35; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Corinthians 12; Matthew 28:19)
Satan
Satan is the personal, spiritual adversary of God and every believer. Satan actively opposes the work of God, the church, and the spiritual health of every Christian. Satan though powerful is not all powerful. His doom is sure, his defeat is certain, his judgement will be eternal when Christ returns. (Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 20)
