History :
Tyrone Township was established in 1855 and is located in the northwest section of Kent County. A rural/urban township with a population of 4,304; Tyrone Township is part of an area known as "The Ridge". "The Ridge" has prime, unique and valuable agricultural land because of its relationship to Lake Michigan along with the rolling topography which provides improved frost protection. Principal crops on "The Ridge" include apples, vegetables, and dairy as well as beef cattle.
Tyrone Township offers many beautiful attractions, such as the Rogue River, which runs through the eastern part of the township. Other features include our Fire & Rescue Department, Library, and Historical Group.
