Upper Perkiomen Middle School, attended by 1,100 students in grades five through eight, is sensitive to the dynamic needs of young people in the middle stage of their educational journey. Students receive recognition for citizenship, scholastic improvement, team effort, spelling ability, and such specific acknowledgments as: the Johns Hopkins Talent Search, Student of the Month, Future Problem Solving Bowl, Pennsylvania Math League Contest, Youth Authors Magazine, and more.
The Community Service Committee organizes student food drives, the Open Line toy drive, senior citizen and nursing home activities, SPCA food drive, adopt a rain forest (or whale), and birdhouses for the county park. Other extracurricular activities include the 15 interscholastic team sports, school band, chorus, talent show, newspaper (JSJ), yearbook, majorettes, cheerleading, student government, recycling club, art club, chess, SOS club, Project Enable, TSA club, A/V club, Sight, Sound, and Stage Crew, Peer Tutors, Student Government, and intramural sports, among others. In addition, both the PTFS organization and Parent Mentor Program enhance all of the above activities by creating strong, healthy bonds between the school, the family, and the community.
