WVFAS has been serving the emergency medical needs of Weehawken and the rest of the North Hudson community since 1969. Back in those days, we had a single ambulance and operated out of the basement of Town Hall. We've come a long way! WVFAS now has its own headquarters building (located at 201 Highwood Avenue) and three modern, well stocked ambulances. In 2000, we added semi automated cardiac defibrillators (below) to ambulances. These devices allow us to provide treatments for life threatening heart arrythmias. Our ambulances are staffed by State of New Jersey certified Emergency Medical Technicians. Each of our EMTs has completed a 130 hour program of classroom and hands on training. We keep our EMTs on their toes with a comprehensive training program which combines in house classes, in service training and classroom and hands on training delivered by outside agencies.
