Description:
The Downey Civic Theatre is a 738-seat live stage theatre owned and operated by the City of Downey and administered by the Department of Community Services. The Theatre opened on June 11, 1970 and plays host to a variety of events throughout the year and is available for rental.

An annual series of Broadway musicals is offered by the Downey Civic Light Opera Association, (562) 923-1714 and a season of classical music is provided by the Downey Symphonic Society, (562) 403-2944; the "Armchair Adventure Travelogue Series" is presented by the Theatre and information is available by calling (562) 861-8211.

The Downey Civic Theatre is located at 8435 Firestone Blvd. midway between the 605 Freeway on the east and the 710 Freeway on the west; adjacent to the Embassy Suites Hotel and Mimi's Cafe. Convenient, free well-lighted parking is available behind the hotel and theatre. Regular Box Office hours are 12 Noon until 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, except holidays and the phone number is (562) 861-8211.
