About Us:

The museum is filled with artifacts and over 8,000 photos that document the history of the region from the original Diegueño, Luiseño and Kumeyaay tribes, to the Ranchero period when Mexico ruled the area until California became part of the United States in 1850. Through vignettes and exhibits at the museum, the history continues through the period when settlers and homesteaders arrived in the region from the Midwest, lured by the promise of profitable ranching and the anticipation of living in "paradise!"
