John Kafer joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in August 2012, following 25 years of service in the United States Air Force where he attained the rank of Colonel. He served as a pilot of the KC-10, C-5 and KC-135 aircrafts in multiple deployments as well as in staff positions at the Joint Forces Command, Pentagon and US Air Forces Europe.
John is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and International Affairs, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Master of Science in Aeronautical Science and the Air Force Institute of Technology with a Master of Science degree in Logistics Management Air Mobility. He holds Series 6, 63 and 65 securities licenses plus state life, health and long-term care insurance licenses.
John advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Order of Daedalians and the Airlift Tanker Association, John enjoys road bike riding and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
