I choose to become a physician assistant to provide preventive care to the community in a language they understand and help patients better understand their care by providing personalized health education. I grew up interpreting for family members at medical appointments and that sparked my interest to become a medical provider. I enjoy being able to bridge gaps in care, whether that be through language or helping patients better understand their medical conditions. I truly believe good communication, learning about my patients, and mutual respect is key to having a great patient-provider relationship. I find that meeting people where they are implementing a team-based approach is important to provide the best quality care possible and help them along their health journey. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two cats, hiking, trying out new recipes and tending my veggie garden.
