Sonia Gajula, MD, provides care with our Springfield Clinic Endocrinology team and sees patients at Springfield Clinic Bloomington-Normal, located at 2005 Jacobssen Drive, Normal, Ill. Dr. Gajula earned her medical degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and her internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. She completed her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She has more than 15 years of experience, most recently providing endocrinology care in the Peoria area. "My mother's career as a transplant nurse and all of her stories about her career piqued my interest in starting my own medical career," says Dr. Gajula. "I quickly realized this was something I want to do for other people and myself." Dr. Gajula's scope of practice includes general endocrinology care, including diabetes, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and male testosterone deficiency. "I like solving the puzzle with my patients and treating them as a whole," she says. "As an endocrinologist, I enjoy not just getting to see patients, but I get to develop long-term relationships with them." Dr. Gajula lives in Peoria with her husband and two sons.
