In this three-part series, Tom Davies delves into the crucial role Connecticut played in shaping Impressionism into a uniquely American movement, blending it with the natural beauty and character of the Northeast. The state became home to six renowned art colonies—Cos Cob, Silvermine, Westport, Old Lyme, Mystic, and Kent in the Northwest Litchfield Hills—more than any other state in the country. The series will feature a selection of representative works from each of these colonies, showcasing their artistic legacy.
