Plot:    Calabria, 1940. Marta And Michele Are In Love. But Michele Does Not Return From The War And Marta, Who Became Pregnant Before He Left, Gives Birth To Little Michelangelo. To Save The Family's Honor, Her Father Promises Her In Marriage To Gino, A Man She Doesn't Love, An Older Widower With Two Children.
During The Preparations, Marta Meets Lorenzo, The Parish Priest's Assistant, Known In The Village As "The Wedding Man,” For His Refined Taste Used To Help Brides Plan Their Big Day. Despite Initial Reticence, A Deep Friendship Soon Develops Between The Two, And Marta Begins To Imagine A Different World In Which She Can Live With Freedom And Dignity.
