The phenomenon known as the Broadway musical has been an American entertainment staple since 1866.  This genuinely American art form found its inception in the “The Black Crook”, a five- and one-half hour presentation of song, dance, and dialogue at Niblo’s Theater in New York City.  It continues today with The Lion King, Wicked, Hell’s Kitchen, and approximately 20 other offerings in 2025.  Catalinas Community Chorus is presenting “Broadway Favorites” on March 30, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 11575 N. 1st Ave. in Oro Valley.  You are invited to be a part of the experience as selections from many of the great Broadway musicals of yesterday and today are offered.  South Pacific, Oklahoma, Showboat, The Lion King, Aspects of Love, Phantom of the Opera, and The Music Man make their contributions to a great program.  Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and all under 12 are free.
