Northern California based unclassifiable duo, Misner & Smith, will be making their debut at Georgetown IOOF Hall with their full band on Sunday, February 23rd. The band's music is a combination of soaring vocal harmonies, tight instrumental arrangements, and story-filled, poetic songwriting, adding up to some of the most electrifying music on the scene today. The band’s sound harkens back to the bedrock of rock & folk, drawing inspiration from acts like Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, and many others along the way. But the diversity of styles and genres are one of the things that set M&S apart.  

While two-part vocals are the centerpiece to their sound, the pair features Sam Misner on acoustic guitars, and Megan Smith on upright bass. Joining the duo for this show will be world-renowned pedal steel guitar player and multi-instrumentalist, Bruce Kaphan (David Byrne, The Black Crowes, REM), and Oakland-based drummer and multi-instrumentalist, Dillon Vado. Headlining regularly at venues such as the Freight & Salvage, and the Palms Playhouse, they have also appeared at The Kate Wolf Music Festival, Davis Music Fest, San Francisco Folk Festival, and can be heard on radio dials all over the world. They've toured regularly overseas in England and even Bulgaria, the latter as a cultural exchange, sharing shows with Bulgarian musicians. Misner & Smith’s vocal blend, lyrical potency, and diverse songwriting make this duo one of the most unique and loved bands around.

Doors will open at the Georgetown IOOF Hall at 2pm for members of MOTD and online ticket holders. At 2:30 the door tickets will be available for purchase, and the music begins at 3:00pm, running till 5pm, with a 20 minute intermission to enjoy snacks, beverages and camaraderie. This concert will be a perfect way to enjoy the spirit of Valentine’s Day with your family and friends.
