Cosanti has announced four 2025 dates for its popular one-day tile-making experience. This hands-on course, which takes place at Cosanti in Paradise Valley, guides participants through the exceptional tile-making and design process that was developed by The Cosanti Foundation and is still used every day by the artisans of Cosanti Originals to make their sought-after ceramic tiles.

Upcoming tile-making experiences, which are led by  Cosanti ceramicist C.J. Milewski, take place on the following dates:

• Sunday, Feb. 23
• Sunday, March 16
• Saturday, April 5
• Saturday, May 10

Each course begins at 10 a.m. with an introductory tour of Cosanti, during which guests will learn about the different structures and practices that Cosanti possesses, as well as the history and theory behind this novel institution.

At 11 a.m., tile making begins with the process of forming a clay slab using canvas and a roller. Guests will move onto sizing the slab, then measuring and cutting the clay into tile pieces.

The centerpiece of the day takes place at noon, when instructors will show participants the main tools and techniques used to imprint a design into the clay tile. Instructors will further elaborate their style of artwork, both within the Cosanti family of design and their own individual inspiration.

The course concludes at 1 p.m. with a viewing of one another’s works before finishing with individual and group photos. After the class is finished, the clay tiles will be fired, lightly glazed and then shipped directly to each participant.

Instructor C.J. Milewski has been learning and developing her own style withing the Cosanti tile-making tradition for several years. Her background in education is foundational for her art education workshops at Cosanti. Milewski enjoys the opportunity to teach while also enhancing her own inner artisan.

The cost of this course is $165, plus $20 flat-fee shipping of the tile. Pick-up is also available.
