Everyday Empowerment: Neuroscience & Movement for Times of Stress
Saturday, April 12th
12p – 2pm
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to step into patterns of reactivity when things get stressful? Despite our good intentions to do better, we get settled into grooves of thinking (citta vritti) and behaving that can affect our personal environment and can create even deeper grooves (samskara) that can amplify negativity and stress. You may be unaware that these are universal patterns that play into our biology and socialization – and sometimes it can feel as though the cycle of behavior is unavoidable. In this workshop, with special guest teacher Denise McLennen, we will explore these universal patterns, how we've been socialized into them and how to notice one's own participation in the cycle. We will then explore alternatives to these samskaras, or deep grooves of behavior and thinking – by learning ways of regulating, stepping into one's own power, and shifting the narrative. Denise will incorporate bits of neuroscience, movement and fun exercises into the exploration, creating a personal roadmap for deeper empowerment and joy. Open to everyone, no experience necessary.
