Month Of Photography: Carrie Tahquechi & Community In Focus By The City Of Longmont's Youth Center
Touching Light: Photography You Can Feel by Carrie Tahquechi
Touching Light: Photography You Can Feel is a groundbreaking 3D printed photographic exhibition that transforms the interplay of light and texture from traditional photographs into multi-layered, tactile art. Artist Carrie Tahquechi, renowned for her innovative approach to tactile art and handmade bead embroidery jewelry, has been transforming her craft since the early 1980s. Her extensive background in photography, bead weaving, embroidery, lampwork beads, and metalwork paved the way for her later focus on custom tactile designs beginning in 2003.
This exhibition features tactile prints rendered in high-contrast duo colors and enhanced with braille labels and audio descriptions, offering visually impaired audiences an immersive art experience. Through this work, Carrie redefines conventional art encounters while breaking barriers and championing inclusivity in the art world.
