This month’s theme at ArtWorks@7th is “Paint the town” The phrase originated in the 18th century, meaning to go out and celebrate boisterously, often with a hint of mischief. An artist's perception likely depends on their personal style, interests, and the context in which they encounter the phrase. It speaks to the power of art to transform spaces, evoke emotions, and bring people together. This month our artists will feature views of beaches and urban landscapes from around the DC area, as well as jewelry for that “night-on-the-town”, pottery and much more.

Our guest artist this month is Joi Lowe. Much of Ms. Lowe’s work is African/Afro-American influenced, focusing on the relationship between mother and child. Most recently her work is created from natural resources and recycled plastics.

Money spent locally stays in the local economy and continues to strengthen the economic base of the entire community. Small local businesses make indispensable contributions to communities and neighborhoods. Supporting local artists allows them the opportunity to continue to serve their communities. You will often see members of Artworks@7th supporting local charities and organizations by participating in art shows, teaching workshops, and donating items for fundraisers.
