The Museum of Craft and Design presents Fiber Fest, an introduction to the creative textile processes highlighted in RugLife. Learn from expert makers while exploring the threads that connect us to the following fibrous fun!

A Knack of Knitting with Hannah Milstein
Multimedia artist and knitting wizz Hannah Milstein brings her expertise to MCD! Already a knitter? Bring your own yarn and talk shop! New to the craft? Purl up a chair, explore materials and processes, and join the tight-knit community.

Felted Fun with Risa Iwasaki
Risa is a master felter and teacher, creating sculptures of all scales, sharing her knowledge through workshops, and exhibiting her work in galleries across SF. Don’t miss your opportunity to dabble in Risa’s wacky, whimsical, and colorful world and walk away with a new creative obsession.

Creative Crochet with Zoë Edwards
MCD Programs Coordinator Zoë brings her passion for crochet to Fiber Fest. If you’ve crocheted before, come learn about creating a color chart for intarsia – tapestry crochet techniques that depict text and patterns. If you’re new to crochet, come practice the building blocks and get inspired for future projects!

Embrace Embroidery
A MakeArt favorite and a craft that can truly be done anywhere, embroidery allows you to create beautiful threaded artwork, mending garments, or embellish any outfit or accessory. Enjoy this mindful practice and add these skills to your textile toolkit

Access Hour:
The 12-1pm Access Hours is designed to prioritize access and inclusion in MCD’s public programs, specifically for members of the disability community, including those who are blind, low vision, and Autistic visitors.
