First Day Hike - Accessible Paved Trail - Bastrop

Start off 2025 by getting some time in nature at Bastrop on a guided walk along paved sections of trail on the 1-mile Lake Mina Loop.

Start 2025 off by enjoying time in the outdoors at Bastrop State Park! We'll walk along the paved trail of Lake Mina Loop which takes us to a small half-acre pond and back. We'll discuss nature goals for 2025 and learn about the Lost Pines along the way.

Meet at the Historic Golf Shelter parking lot.

There are no restrooms at the trailhead, so please use the restrooms and fill your water bottles at HQ, or at either Piney Hill or Copperas Creek restrooms in the park before heading to the Historic Golf Shelter.

Bring: Bottled Water and snacks. Wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing.

This hike will be canceled if inclement weather is forecasted.

Pets are allowed but consider the following: Is your pet well mannered and used to hiking in large groups with new people they don't know? Is your pet friendly and well mannered to other pets that may attend the hike as well? Is your pet used to being on a six-foot leash at all times?

You must follow all regulations while in the park.

- Pets must be on a six foot or shorter leash at all times.

- You must bring waste bags. If your pet poops in the park, you must bag it up and carry it along the remainder of the hike with you until you can deposit it in a trash bin.

- You  must be in control of your pet at all times.
Bring plenty of water, a water dish and treats for your pet for the hike. Be aware that there are sandburs along the sides of the paved paths that will get stuck in your pets paws. Bring booties for their feet if you have them.

This guided hike is free after park day pass entry fee is paid. The day pass entry fee for Bastrop State Park is $5 per adult ages 13+. Children 12 and under are free.
