First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Meet at Franklin Point Trail Head.

Parking: Free parking at the Franklin Point Trail Head.

What to Expect: Learn about the cultural and natural history of Franklin Point during this moderate hike over mostly flat terrain including traversing over several sand dunes.

Length of Hike: 2.0 mile, 2 hours

Preparation: Water, snacks and layered clothing recommended. Franklin Point is an exposed promontory susceptible to changing weather conditions.

Special Instructions: Rain will cancel hike.

Ages: Ages 8 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult
