First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Burleigh Murray Ranch State Park Parking Lot

Parking: There is no fee to park. Please plan to meet promptly at 10 a.m. at the Murray Ranch Parking Lot (305 Higgins Canyon Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019).

What to Expect: The walk is a leisurely 2.5 mile round-trip hike on an out-and-back trail with only a small gain in elevation.

Length of Hike: 2.5 mile, 2 hours

Preparation: Please be sure to come prepared with a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and sun protection (ie. hat/sunglasses/sunscreen).  

Special Instructions: Rain cancels the hike.

Ages: All ages welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
