First Day of 2025 Hikes

Join us for a hike on the first day of the new year in 2025!

The first day of the new year is a time to celebrate and take in everything around us as we move forward to new and better things! Take a guided hike on one of our amazing trails as we soak in the beauty of the Blackland prairie ecosystem. Choose from three different hikes that celebrate the ecological diversity of North Texas and Cedar Hill State Park.

Schedule:

11 am-Noon - Join us on this ranger-led stroll through our 0.6-mile Penn Farm Trail as we explore the nature and history of this 19th century homestead. Meet at the Penn Farm Trailhead.

1-3:30 pm - During this ranger-led hike, we will walk through a Blackland prairie restoration project on our 2.5-mile Talala Trail. Meet at the Penn Farm Parking Lot. (Duration: approximately 1.5 hours from start-time, beginning every 10 minutes from 1pm to 2pm)

5-6 pm - Join a ranger for a relaxing 1-mile walk along our Shoreline Trail, and take in the first sunset of 2025 over Joe Pool Lake. Meet at the Shoreline Trailhead near the north boat ramp.

Bring: Water, and a snack if you need one.

Wear: Good shoes for walking and dress for the weather!

Cost: Free with a $7 per person park entry fee or presentation of a TPWD Annual Park Pass. Children 12 and under are free to enter the park.
