First Day Hike! (Afternoon Hike)

Kick-off the new year with a ranger-led hike!

Begin 2025 with a guided hike at Mission Tejas State Park! Join park staff on one of our two guided hikes through the piney woods as we start the new year off right! Start your 2025 off by hearing the wind in the trees, listening to wintering bird species and visiting the remains of the Lucas Farm. Afterwards, be sure to visit park headquarters to claim your First Day Hikes completion sticker!

The hike will be nearly a mile long, mostly on the Chimney Loop Trail. Please keep in mind, this trail does have some elevation changes and is rated as one of the park's more difficult trails.

Where: We will meet at the park picnic area near the Tejas Timber trailhead by the Mission Pond (staff at headquarters can provide directions). Restrooms and water will be available before and after the hike. The 10 AM morning hike will meet at park HQ.

Cost: Regular admission into the park: $3/person. Children 12 and under (and carriers of a valid Texas State Parks Pass) get in for free!
