First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Inspiration Point Loop Trail can be accessed from short trails departing from the polo field at Will Rogers State Historic Park. From the PCH, head inland on Chautauqua Blvd (approximately 1 mile north of the Santa Monica pier). After 1 mile turn right onto Sunset Blvd. Park entrance will be on left via Will Rogers State Park Road.

Parking: There's parking on site. The parking lot is open from 8:00am - Sunset. Fees can be paid by card at the front gate kiosk or by using the posted app. Parking Fee: $12.00 per car. Senior Parking: $11.00 per car.

What to Expect: Saturday, Jan. 4 - Join a First Weekend New Year Hike at Will Rogers State Historic Park! This gentle guided hike of the Inspiration Point loop showcases flowers, fauna, and stories of the Rogers family’s adventures from 1925-1935. All ages welcome.

Length of Hike: 1.0 mile, 2 hours

Preparation: Come prepared to hike with essentials such as a hat, snacks, water, sturdy hiking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Special Instructions: Heavy rain will cancel hike.  

Ages: All ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
