Come and enjoy a few of the wonders of the Earth! Club members showcase our favorite specimens and new materials discovered during the year at Club digs throughout the South. Members also demonstrate many aspects of the lapidary arts including: lost wax casting; gem cutting; gold panning; gem panning; geode cracking, silver chain making; stone carving, wire wrapping cabochons; slabbing and cabbing; gem tree crafting; micromounted minerals; and jewelry and beadwork assembly, among other hobbies.
Vendors offer an array of common and rare fossils, minerals, gems from around the world, lapidary supplies, beads and jewelry findings, as well as handcrafted to exquisite jewelry from pennies to thousands of dollars. There's truly something for everyone at low, low prices!
Educators are on-site and many educational materials are available. A quiz for students to test their knowledge of the contents in many of the cases is available on a table beside the Treasure dig. Often teachers use attendance to the Show or the completed quiz as extra credit for their science students.
