Join us for the unveiling of a new collection of animated film shorts that celebrate Lāhainā history, culture and sense of place.
The result of our most recent call to artists, these animations stem from the Hui Mo’olelo: Lāhainā program partnership amongst the County of Maui, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House / Maui Historical Society, Maui Public Art Corps and Lahaina Restoration Foundation. Led by Kalapana Kollars and Anuhea Yagi, a new cohort of storytellers were trained and paired with intergenerational partners to audio-record memories rooted in Lāhainā.
Selected by a community panel, artists Richard O’Connor, Sasha Hercik, Jenna Lee, Syril Pecson, Zach Quemado, and Abby Worthley will bring this collection to life.
Stories feature:
- Jennifer Freeland and her father Haines Burt Freeland
- Louis Garcia III and Kaliko Storer
