The Main Line Martin Luther King Association, in conjunction with Bryn Mawr College, will hold its virtual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 3 p.m. Visit mainlinemlk.org/events to register. A toiletry donation drive and personal care kit creation event will take place on Bryn Mawr's campus in Bryn Mawr, Pa., on Monday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The emcee for Sunday's event is Brian Turner, president of the Main Line Branch NAACP Unit #2270. Millie B. Bond, senior advisor for external relations and secretary of Bryn Mawr College will be the featured speaker. The recipients of the Main Line MLK Association’s 2024-2025 scholarships will be honored and there will be special musical performances.
The public is also invited to participate in a toiletry donation drive and personal care kit creation event on Monday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in support of the missions of HopePHL and Saints Memorial Outreach Ministry, which benefit individuals experiencing homelessness in the Philadelphia community. This event takes place in Bryn Mawr's Campus Center, 816 New Gulph Rd., and is hosted by The Main Line Martin Luther King Association and Bryn Mawr College's Career & Civic Engagement Center.
Donations of toiletry items will be accepted until January 19 at a box in the college's Student Life & Wellness building, 712 New Gulph Rd., or can be brought to the event on January 20. Items should be unused and can be full or travel-size. Go here for a list of recommended items.
