The 14th Annual Oceanside Intl Film Festival Has Arrived! Kicking off Tuesday, February 18th and Running Through Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at The Brooks Theater, OIFF ’25 is Proud to Present 5 Days of Cinema, Art & Community right in the Heart of one of California’s 14 Designated Cultural Districts. Championed by the Universal Topics of Environment, Acceptance, Individuality & of course, The Surf, we Invite both Filmmakers and Film Goers alike to Experience what 2025 has to Offer for Attendees of OIFF. 6:00PM – THE SURF LINEUP, PART 1 // DOCUMENTARY FEATURE PROGRAM

Hosted by Oceanside International Film Festival Executive Director, Lou Niles, OIFF’s annual & fan-favorite tradition returns to the Brooks Theater for a night of local and international surf filmmaking right in the heart of Downtown Oceanside. Surf and film enthusiasts alike can enjoy two separate lineups of nonfiction surf filmmaking from around the globe. Doors open at 5:00pm with our program starting at 6:00pm, so be sure to grab your seats (and tickets) early!

6:00PM – RICK GRIFFIN INTERLUE 02, VIRIGINIA CITY

In the summer of 1965, 21-year-old surfer and art-school dropout Rick Griffin encountered The Charlatans’ “Seed” poster at a friend’s house in downtown LA. The poster’s

hybrid style of Old West typography and British Invasion cool captivated Griffin immediately. It would propel him on a rambling road trip up to the old frontier mining town of Virginia City, Nevada where a renegade avant-garde aesthetic was evolving around The Charlatans and

psychedelics. That transformative trip would center Rick and his art at Ground Zero of the San Francisco psychedelic rock and art scene that would, in a few short years, fundamentally rewire mainstream culture. (6 Min, United States)

Moving in Perfect Harmony is Laguna Beach High School student filmmaker Reef Applebaum’s way of showcasing the love for their sports and how they use them to cope with hardships, as well as a means to express their personality. Applebaum uses a combination of vibrant cinematography to showcase their perspective on how these sports feel to them alongside a deep poetic narration to further explain how the sports in question complete them as a human.
