BERNICE STEINBAUM GALLERY is proud to present: Embers, a solo exhibition featuring the work of artist Monica Lundy, opening Saturday, February 15th, 4 - 8 pm.
An artist, archivist, and non-conformist at heart, Monica Lundy unearths stories from the past. We are excited to announce that the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery will host a solo exhibition by Lundy titled Embers, opening on Saturday, February 15th. Lundy’s groundbreaking work invites you to explore art rooted in history, reawakening marginalized human stories through unified and fragmented painted portraiture.
Lundy pursues her extensive investigation and research into the history of people incarcerated at historic psychiatric hospitals and prisons around the world, with a focus on women inmates. It is a study of individual identity through stylized pictorial convention. The Bernice Steinbaum Gallery serves as a platform for dialogue and discovery. Through her artistic expression, Monica Lundy gives voice to the "forgotten souls" those marginalized or misrepresented in society's eyes.
Bringing Monica Lundy’s powerful, intimate portraiture into the gallery allows viewers to engage with thought-provoking reflections on sociopolitical issues. The exhibition explores the evolving perceptions of criminality and the shifting nature of compassion throughout history.
Monica Lundy's exhibition will be held at the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, 2101 Tigertail Avenue, Miami, FL 33133. The gallery is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.and by appointment on other days.
