Every year in March, we celebrate National Women’s History Month. This year, we are celebrating our Pueblo women as we recognize their leadership, strength, and courage. On March 8 from 11 AM – 2 PM, we will be highlighting women artisans and dancers with dance performances and guest speakers.
Event itinerary:
11:00am: Introduction
11:10am: Angel Charley (Laguna/Zuni/Diné), New Mexico State Senator
11:20am: Nathana Bird (Ohkay Owingeh), Interim Executive Director for Tewa Women United
11:30am: Shadiin Garcia (Laguna Pueblo), Native Women Lead Executive Director
11:40 am: Susan Roller Whittington, Director/guitar, drum, and rattles for The Tewa Indian Women’s Choir
11:50am: Danekah Johnson (Ohkay Owingeh), Women in the Armed Forces
12 pm - 12:30 pm: Dance performance by Ria Thundercloud (Sandia/Ho-Chunk)
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm: Dance performance by Zuni Olla Maidens (Zuni Pueblo)
1:30 pm - 2:00 pm: Informative lecture on Women’s History Month and what it means to the Pueblo community
