Free Black History Month Event to be held at Black River Technical College Feb. 27 at 11:00 AM.

 

Brian Rodgers​, Adult Education Interpretive Specialist for the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, Arkansas’s Museum, will present "What’s in the Pot?”  Thursday, February 27, at 11:00 am in the Randolph County Development Center on the Pocahontas campus of BRTC in celebration of Black History Month.  

 

This will be an engaging and flavorful program that explores the rich history and cultural significance of soul food within the African American community. Participants will learn about the origins and evolution

of soul food, its deep ties to African ​Heritage, and its role in fostering connection and tradition across generations.

This event combines storytelling, history, and food ​in an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of African American culinary traditions while fostering community and understanding.

 

This event is free to the public thanks to our sponsors: the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Department of Arkansas Heritage, the Eddie Mae Herron Center and Museum, and the BRTC Foundation.

 

Following the presentation, the BRTC Grill will be offering Soul Food Plate Lunches including a drink and dessert for $12 each. Please contact Shawna Lepard at 870-248-4026 about a possible discount for groups of 25 or more.
