Praised by Chicago Classical Review for their “live-wire intensity” and “keen blend of tonal warmth and incisiveness,” the two-time Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet is among the world’s most in-demand chamber ensembles. The quartet’s numerous awards include a stunning sweep of all prizes at the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, grand and first prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and prizes at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. The group’s 2024-25 season includes collaborative performances with preeminent artists including pianists Michelle Cann, Marc-André Hamelin, and Haochen Zhang, as well as premiere performances of works by Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate (‘90), a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and a leading composer of American Indian classical music. The Bienen School has co-commissioned Tate’s works on the evening’s program, together with the Curtis Institute of Music and a collective of chamber music presenters around the US.
