9th Annual Spellbound Century a Bike Touring Event

Mount Holly, NJ -- The Spellbound Community Giving Corp, Mount Holly, Burlington County, NJ will be hosting the 9th annual Spellbound Century a bike touring event. This year event is supporting the Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter (FOBCAS) and the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart Conference, Mount Holly, NJ. FOBCAS mission is to save the lives of homeless animals and to promote their adoption, by working with the County shelter and the community to reach the FOBCAS non- kill vision by 2025. FOBCAS is a donation-based organization and relies completely on the generosity of the public and businesses in the community. The donated funds would help save homeless animals in Burlington County by helping pay for veterinary bills. In addition to FOBCAS, the donated funds will benefit the Society of St Vincent dePaul (SVDP), Sacred Heart Conference, Mt Holly. SVDP is an organization who serves the poor in the Rancocas Valley High School sending district. SVDP services includes a Food Pantry and financial assistance to those in need. SVDP serves approximately 250 families in the local area out which 27% are senior citizens. The donated funds will help SVDP provide financial assistance to those in need so, they can avoid eviction, loss of utility services and other important financial support.

Riders will have various mileage options to choose (25, 45, 63 and 100 miles). The ride is fully supported, there will be marked routes to follow with planned bountiful rest stops at local farm markets along the way. Riders can make purchases at the farm markets and the purchases will be deliver to the finish for the riders by volunteers. After completion of their ride, the riders will return to Park Drive in Mount Holly for an after riding celebratory luncheon of local pizza, a pint of beer from Spellbound Brewing, Italian water ice from Vincent’s Home- Made Ice Cream, live entertainment by Modern Mojo, a recovery stretch provided by Stretch Lab, Marlton, Nj and other local merchants. This will be a day of fun activities for all the participants. The participants will be stopping at Specca Pick Your Own Farm, Springfield, Mr. McGregor’s Garden, Jobstown, Rancocas Creek Farm, Southampton, and Emery’s Blueberry Farm, New Egypt to help support the local farmers and promote Jersey Fresh.

The riders will be treated to water, sports drinks and snacks at the rest stops from donations from Shop Rite of Hainesport, Wegmans of Mount Laurel, Bj’s Deptford, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co, Nutriserve, Rip Van Waffle, GU Hydration Products and Gels, Wawa and CVS, the ride is fully supported by Mount Holly Bicycles, Mount Holly, Wheelies Bike Shop, Medford and Aistriu, Marlton.

The event would not be possible without the support of sponsors: Davis Honda, Active Environmental Technologies, Haines Trans Group, TDI, First On-Site, Mt Holly Elks Club, Highway Tire, Mount Holly, Miller Auto Group, Dadz’s and many more local merchants. The event has sold out every year since its inception and as of May 30th there are 1,200 registered riders. The oldest person riding is 92 and the youngest is 18 with a median age of 54. There are 789 male riders registered and 411 female riders register. The most popular routes are the century (100 miles) as there are 680 riders registered for it. This is the 9th year of the event, and it has become the most popular cycling event in New Jersey. The event has raised $300,000 since its inception to help local non-profits organizations.
