New York, NY - Making a grand entrance (as always), the unparalleled multi-platinum chart-topping band AJR return with a new single entitled “The Dumb Song” out now via their own AJR Productions label and Mercury/Republic Records. It notably stands out as their first release of 2023.

On the new track and official music video the band said: “We’ve wanted to write a song like The Dumb Song for a long time. Just a purely fun, crazy fast song that’s all over the place, but works in a weird way.”
The official music video intimately and hilariously documents the song’s genesis. A title card reveals, “It took AJR exactly a year and a half to make ‘The Dumb Song’.” It goes on to depict that “year and a half” with home video footage, insight into the track’s creation as well as what the boys have been up to in the past year-including heading off on their world tour. It's a great inside view into the artistry behind the band’s production & songwriting skills- and showcases the hard work it takes to create a song!
Recently AJR have cranked up anticipation for their new era of music. They’ve teased its impending arrival on social media, dropping cryptic hints and enticing fans with what’s to come hinting “The New Era Has Begun. TMM” See HERE & HERE. Each release in the era - so far including singles “I Won’t” & “The DJ Is Crying For Help” - has given more and more hints as to what the new era entails. However, we can now assure you TMM is the new era of music for AJR—and it’s on the way.
Last year capped off 2022 with “The DJ Is Crying For Help.” It has already reached over 25 million global streams and 3.2 million YouTube views on the music video. Upon release, Rolling Stone named it among “All The Songs You Need To Know This Week.”
It arrived on the heels of “I Won’t.” The latter has amassed over 52 million global streams and 4.3 million YouTube views on the music video. The band delivered a seismic performance of the track on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Inciting critical applause, including MTV who hailed it as “another catchy bop that doubles as an extremely relatable social commentary.”
The trio continues to put up staggering numbers on their music, crossing over 5 billion in global streams and climbing. Additionally, they sold upwards of 350,000 tickets in the US to their “OK Orchestra” World Tour, showcasing their biggest production yet and affirming them as one of the most consistently captivating and thrilling live acts. See clips from the OK Orchestra World Tour Here & Here.
Next up, they cross the pond to support Imagine Dragons in stadiums throughout Europe and will perform at Lollapalooza Berlin, Greenroom Festival, Seoul Jazz Festival, FEST Festival, FM4 Frequency Festival, Zurich Openair Festival, and SziGet Festival. Check out the full itinerary below.
Remaining ever-prolific, the guys are also scoring Harold & the Purple Crayon on Broadway in addition to constantly writing and recording music of their own.
This year, the New York-based trio of brothers Adam [vocals/bass], Jack [vocals/guitar], and Ryan [guitar/piano/vocals] Met, concluded the sold out US leg of their OK ORCHESTRA tour before bringing their larger-than-life production and stage show with them to Australia and canvassing Europe.
As brothers and as a band, AJR—Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met—complement one another in perfect harmony on and off-stage. This harmony courses through their imaginative alternative pop uplifted by expansive vision, epic instrumentation, and the kind of hooks you can’t shake. It’s why the group has generated billions of streams across triple-platinum smashes “Bang!” and “Weak” as well as the double-platinum “Burn The House Down” and platinum singles “100 Bad Days,” “Sober Up,” and “I’m Ready.” It’s why they’ve landed back-to-back Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Neotheater [2019] and OK Orchestra [2021]. It’s why they consistently sell out arenas with their Broadway-worthy live show. It’s why (like something out of a movie) they made the jump from their living room to late-night television. It’s why they’ve quietly stretched the boundaries and definition of what popular music can be in 2022 and continue to do so on their forthcoming full-length debut for AJR Productions/Mercury Records/ Republic Records.
