LAINEY

Lainey came to AAE with another donkey, her best friend Loretta. Their owner was going through a divorce, so she left them with friends, who, unfortunately, didn't know anything about donkeys and proper care. After about six months, Lainey and Loretta were in need of a new home when the friend moved out of state and left the girls behind.

When they arrived at AAE, Lainey was obese, and Loretta was emaciated. Neither had had any recent hoof care or other basic maintenance. Lainey also had a bulging belly, and Loretta's hooves were in horrific condition.

The girls got the works after arrival, much needed hoof and dental care, xrays of hooves (Loretta's were the worst we've seen), vaccines, deworming, and microchips, as well as other diagnostics, too. Turns out, Lainey's bulging belly is from abdominal hernias from being spayed, poor girl. She can be sensitive to touching her sides, at times.

Though we were hoping Lainey and Loretta would be adopted together when Loretta was done with rehab (her hooves were still a work in progress, she foundered badly), sadly, Loretta passed during the night a while back, and now Lainey needs a new friend.

Lainey is looking for a home with at least a smaller donkey or mini donkey with whom she can form a new friendship. Because of her hernias, Lainey requires friends who are easy-going and mild-mannered and won't harm her.

NEW STORE NEEDS
We will need volunteer help moving remaining inventory June 10th (and smaller efforts throughout the week). If you like to decorate or merchandise, we need you, too! If you're able to help with some fixture installations, we need ya' most. We have some slatwall, shelving, and saddle displays that need to be removed from the old location and rehung at the new location.

If you have any gently used and unwanted rustic furniture (e.g. tables, shelving, decor, cabinets, or anything display friendly), and you'd like to rehome, we could use a few or more pieces for displays and storage.

On Thursday, July 13, Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club and Lounge in Old Sacramento is hosting a comedy show fundraiser for AAE! Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm.

Tickets are $20, and $20 of every admission goes to AAE!

Volunteers Needed!

Boots & Bling is a big event, and we need help more than ever. AAE and the horses will benefit greatly from your help. We are kicking off our planning meetings next week, so if you're interested in helping out, please sign up below, and we'll be in touch in the next few days.
