ARIZONA - Following Donald Trump signing a transphobic executive order with Republican Senate President Warren Petersen, Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Robert Branscomb released the following statement: 

“Our Republican-controlled legislature has the ear of the President, and they are using it for hate instead of delivering results on real issues. Arizonans deserve leadership that stands up for our children by funding public schools, increasing teacher pay, and expanding the free school lunch program rather than targeting transgender student-athletes. As Donald Trump and our Republican legislature spread division, Arizona Democrats are fighting back against transphobia and standing up for our students and the education they deserve.” 

Petersen has a long history of proposing transphobic legislation about school sports that gets blocked in court and sponsoring legislation that bans gender-affirming healthcare.
