Sports and Recreation

From: Alameda Recreation And Park DepartmentThe Alameda Recreation and Parks Preschool offers a recreation based program for children ages 3 to 5 years old (pre-Kindergartners entering Kindergarten the following fall).
ARPD follows the Four Basic building blocks of school readiness pyramid as designed by First 5 of California which includes the following: Self-Care & Motor Skills, Self-Regulation, Social Expression and finally Academics.
Our activities include storytelling, games, arts and crafts, cooking, music, motor fitness, and the development of gross and fine motor skills which will all aide in the development of the lower tiers of the pyramid, as well as to prepare for Kindergarten readiness. Special theme days and activities are also included in the curriculum to help children grow and develop healthy minds and bodies. All children need to be potty-trained by the first day of class.
ARPD is a viable choice for families in Alameda including those families who have chosen to home school their children. Participation in this program will help develop strong social skills and expressions. Classes are offered in different parks throughout Alameda. Check the website for class location and availability: www.alamedaca.gov/recreation
