Hello art lovers!

Thanks to everyone who visited us this past weekend at The Other Art Fair Brooklyn! We had a great time meeting collectors and seeing the artists who participated in the Tower Show.

We are getting ready for the Gowanus Art Parade. Join our maker day on May 29 and create your costume and artwork with us!

THANKS FOR VISITING US AT THE OTHER ART FAIR!

Arts Gowanus had a blast at the Spring 2024 edition of The Other Art Fair over the weekend at ZeroSpace!

A take on our popular Tower shows, dozens of artists transformed an 11"x17" image of a water tower using their medium of choice. The final works were displayed as part of a group exhibit at The Other Art Fair and more than half of the towers found a new home.

MAKER DAY FOR THE GOWANUS ART PARADE!

Arts Gowanus is hosting a maker day on Wednesday, May 29 where we can get together and make our costumes and artwork for the Gowanus Art Parade! We'll be at The Old Stone House (336 3rd Street) starting at 6pm with limited materials and supplies to share. Feel free to bring your own materials to create your canal creatures!

Save the date and come prep for the parade with us!

The Gowanus Art Parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at 3pm!

The theme is Creatures of the Canal – Real or Imaginary. Come rain or shine, join us and show us your creature creations!

Wear your art! Put on a wacky, imaginative, Gowanus-y outfit!  Be fun and festive! Faux fur, feathers, fangs, flippers, tentacles, scales, sequins.... The weirder the better!

Carry your artwork! Posters, sculptures, puppets, banners, flags, effigies... bring them all! We want to see your most wondrous and bizarre creations! Just make sure they are mobile and easy to carry throughout a procession.

We'll meet in the alleyway between 543 Union and 280 Nevins at 2:30pm and kick off the march at 3pm. Leading the procession will be the HONK Family Band! Joining the festivities will be the Gowanus Wildcats Drill Team and Miss Gowanus Canal / Miss New York USA 2022 Finalist, Addie @adelinexvictoria! We’ll tread the sidewalks, traverse an iconic Gowanus bridge, traipse along the waterfront, and end at a community street festival at 2nd Street, outside the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse.

The outdoor fest will feature Mookntaka's spectacular interactive sculpture Hedgehog, crocheted critters courtesy of the 4th Ave Yarn Collective, live music, and fun activities led by local organizations including the Gowanus Dredgers, Gowanus Canal Conservancy, Forth on Fourth Avenue, Street Lab, Textile Arts Center, and Why Not Art?.

Inside the Boathouse will be an art exhibition by Manju Shandler, an interactive installation by Hannah Robinett, and video portraits by Tamara Staples. After the sun sets – in usual Arts Gowanus fashion – we'll host an afterparty!

A very special thanks to Hally Thornton for designing all the Arts Gowanus creatures that have been gracing our promo graphics!
