Calling all young artists aged 14 to 18! This is your chance to shine and showcase your incredible talents in a professional gallery setting. The Student Juried Art Show at Belmar Arts invites you to exhibit your artwork, giving you the opportunity to be recognized for your creativity and hard work. Imagine seeing your art displayed prominently on the walls of a real gallery, surrounded by fellow artists and art enthusiasts! With prizes up for grabs, this event not only celebrates your artistic journey but also opens doors for future opportunities. FREE CRAFTING SUPPLIES

This is Debbie, or deb. as she signed her crafts. Painter, needlepointer, begrudging seamstress. Girl Scout leader, wedding planner. There wasn’t a craft she wouldn’t try and master in short time.

Debbie passed away a few years ago and My sister and I have inherited her crafting genes and supplies—through both nature and nurture—but there are more supplies than we could ever use. My wonderful and also artistic mother-in-law Mary DeCotiis recommended I reach out to the creatives at Belmar Arts Council to see if you would like to accept any of Debbie’s prolific craft supplies.

Please peruse these items that are set up in the art center and take anything you’d like.

Let’s dance and twist the night away. Join Jersey Shore Swing and The Belmar Arts Council for a Swing ’n Soul party. Make new friends, let your backbone slip while getting some cardio. We will be teaching a soul line dance followed by DJ’d classic soul and R&B.

Pysanky, also known as Ukrainian eggs, are created using a process similar to batik. Patterns are drawn on the egg with hot beeswax, which then protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colors of dye, a multi-colored pattern is built up. The wax is removed at the end to reveal the colors that were covered up at each stage. A great deal of patience and concentration is required to complete a single egg, but it is very rewarding to reveal your hard work when the wax is taken off. All skill levels and ages can create an original pysanka.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience with painting, this workshop will help you get comfortable with acrylics and teach you how to create an original piece of artwork on canvas. Acrylics are a versatile and fast-drying medium that offers endless creative possibilities. In this step-by-step process, you’ll learn how to use this medium to its fullest potential, from setting up your workspace to finishing your final painting.
