This beloved annual event features the release of the 2024 Northstar Bison herd onto Belwin’s Bison Prairie. In addition to the release, visitors can also enjoy fun activities for all ages, such as live music, eco-arts, and food trucks. Prior to the release, we’ll also host a 5k “Run with the Bison” Fun Run so visitors can run through the Prairie before the bison arrive.

Schedule of Events:

9:00 am: 5k “Run with the Bison” Fun Run Check-In Begins
10:00 am: 5k “Run with the Bison” Fun Run: Before the bison take to the prairie, have a fun run through it! (Pre-registration required. Runners may arrive for check-in starting at 9:00 am; there is a 10-minute walk to the starting line.) $20 registration through May 17; $25 same-day registration.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Live Music, Activities in the Tent, Food Trucks including Hannah Lou Woods at 10:00 am and Carpenter Nature Center presenting "Animals of the St. Croix" at 11 am.
12:00 pm: Arrival of the Bison Herd. The bison will arrive at noon and be released shortly after. All who want to see the release should arrive by noon. Imnizaska Dakota Drum Group will perform to welcome the bison prior to the release.
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Live Music, Activities in the Tent, Food Trucks. A performance from The Bad Companions will begin at 1 pm.
2:00 pm: Festival ends
